Over the past few days I've swapped one of Khyrie's specs from cat to bear. She kept her other spec as resto so she now has dual specs of healer and tank. If I wasn't already used to questing in the world as a tank from Mornara it could be problematic but between that and usually running around with one of DraNgNon's toons it shouldn't be an issue.
Khyrie's old cat spec was handy for dailies and a bit of questing, but I have come to realize that I am just not a fan of playing melee characters. Of course, I used to say that about anything other than playing mage, so we will see if that stays true in the future.
Anyway, over the weekend I did a bit of reading on the Elitist Jerks druid forums. And in an unsurprising turn of events the gear for bears and cats is pretty similar, so all the cat gear I'd been picking up from Timeless Isle stood Khyrie in good stead when she went bear. I did have to swap a bunch of gems and enchants and reforge pretty much anything. Because I'd only been doing dailies as a cat I'd kept that gear with only enough hit to deal with a level 92 mob, not a level 93 boss.
I also had to get a whole bunch of glyphs from Ikoli. With four druid specs I'd been slacking and hadn't picked up all of the bear glyphs. Of course once I had them all I needed to figure out what to actually use. Khyrie currently has some actual bear glyphs, but I am not sure if there aren't better ones for her. And I'm sure that I'll want to swap them out on a fight by fight basis if I ever take her into a normal mode raid.
Once I had glyphs and gear and talents sorted out I set up Khyrie's ability bars for bear. I've tried to keep the same sort of abilities in the same place as I have it for Morn's blood spec. Of course it can't be an exact mapping, but I have her basic single target attacks on my left hand, aoe and interrupts and debuffs on the right, and CDs on the left hand shift. My hope was that even if I wasn't sure about what abilities to use when I went into a dungeon I'd still hit roughly the right thing just by muscle memory flailing.
So then Khyrie was set up to bear tank. I'd even visited the barber shop to keep from being Christmas Bear. It was time, time to actually queue up for a heroic. I made DraNgNon bring Kuan along, just in case Khyrie totally was squishy or unable to hold aggro.
I ended up doing two instances as bear, one with Kuan healing and one with Ikoli healing. It wasn't too bad. I will say that it is a whole different kettle of fish to tank when you're outgeared by 30 or more ilvls. This is not an issue for Morn, but it was difficult to figure out the correct sequence while struggling to hold aggro against some well geared dps. At least their gear kept them from dying when I failed to have enough taunts or aggro to keep the mobs on me.
Despite a bit of initial grumpyness I had a pretty good time bear tanking. The basic bear tools seem to be pretty decent. I don't feel familiar enough with them yet to really compare bear vs. DK. However, I'm sure that familiarity and some comparisons will come with more tanking. I'm also sure that DraNgNon will drag me into a LFR. It should be amusing to have Tylara and Khyrie tanking together.

Bat Hilarity
Khyrie and Tylara both finally hit exalted with the Klaxxi the other day. The holdup was all Khyrie slacking on the dumb daily quests. Anyway, we finally did the quest to go along with Malik the Unscathed to break the siege the Empress and her loyal minions have around Klaxxi'vess.
This quest is one big phase, and it's done such that we can actually fly with Malik as he makes his way to the Heart of Fear. Keep in mind that it's about 1:30am at this point, and I've had a long week at work so far. Also that my favorite druid form is flight form, and especially the Bat form that Trolls get.
Anyway we're flying along next to Malik, and I am providing a small stream of consciousness for Khyrie and her fabulous bat form.
"I'ma bat. I'ma bite you.
"unya, unya, unya." *
"I'ma eat you Malik, because you're a big bug."
"unya unya unya unya."
"You're a big tasty bug, and I like eating bugs because I'm a bat."
"unya unya unya."
At this point DranGNon turns her head slowly, looks at me, and asks "What the hell is wrong with you?!"
My response, before we both dissolve into laughter: "I'm a BAT! Unya unya unya"
* - I'm really not sure how to spell the chomping/gnawing noise I was making. Unya is the closest I can come, but it doesn't really capture the teeth click as I close my mouth on the ending 'ya'.

Random Post-Patch Screenshots
Here are a few random screenshots that I took after the 5.0.4 patch.
Druids got some cool new forms.
And some cool new glyphs.
Death Knights have some neat glyphs now too.
Still bitter about my Dragon Kite. :-(

alt #4 is max level and must look pretty
Yesterday, with horrible weather outside, Clara and I decided we were tired of leveling Tylara and Khyrie, and we were going to play them until they were 85, which they now are. Huzzah!
We determined to run through the entirety of Deepholm, which we did for the sake of shoulder enchants; and then went to Uldum, and traded off Ramkahen quests with normal randoms. Unfortunately Blizzard's idea of normal randoms for level 84 characters is to swap back and forth between Vortex Pinnacle and Stonecore; I feel I am spoiled, playing a tank in there, as those are so easy. They also don't drop much in the way of qualifying gear for heroic 5 mans.
Perhaps in a later post I will talk about how Stonecore behind Priestess Azil appears to be where the opening cinematic for Cataclysm tool place. Yes, we were in there enough times to compare the area with the cinematic.

Today, of course, we had to go about the business of taking some motley character that was leveling via facerolling and making it not be an embarrassment to the guild tag hanging over its head. I decided for Tylara this fell on Eeyan, who had nothing left to buy with Justice Points. She bought a [Deflecting Brimstone Band] herself, with all the JP from the randoms. Then Eeyan crafted an [Elementium Earthguard] for her, then bought her [Bracers of Regal Force] and [Rock Furrow Boots] with JP. Then after alt hopping for the mats, he also crafted [Hardened Elementium Hauberk] and [Hardened Elementium Girdle].
Tylara bedecked all this gear, hit ilvl 335, and looked like she was preparing to go into a weightlifting competition in the mud. Really?
Really! in the fog too, with her knees all lit up.
So, once I got that all taken care of, and enchant & gem requests to Clara, who has the useful professions on her alts, I went and dug out the [Tempered Saronite] gear I'd saved, crafted a pair of shoulders too, and after a couple of comparisons, dug out some of the midlevel Cataclysm gear she hadn't vendored. And marched her to the transmogrifier. Becuase for a Blood Knight, even more important than respec'ing and reforging and being a tank who facerolls through instances without disheveling one's hair, is to look put together.

Really.

Hair Stylin'
When I first rolled Khyrie I had some idea that she would tank. And I did actually have her do a few runs as tank at level 45-ish or so. But since she got big enough to play with Tylara she's been resto for any dungeons, which is actually kinda nice.
Anyway, because she's not going into bear form at all, ever, I decided to fix Khyrie's hair. She needs a better more tigery cat form, and that means red hair!

All these trips to the hairdresser to keep this hair pink and trimmed in this style is just too much. Khyrie is a druid, and really, who doesn't just LOVE a giant mohawk crest!

Ah! much better! Cat form with red hair!

Lunar Festival Super Spy
The Lunar festival is going on right now. Most of my toons already have all the coins they need. However, Khyrie does not. She's missing just about everything. Well she was two weeks ago anyway. Now, she's got half the dungeon coins, most of Kalimdor, all the Horde capital cities, and all of the outside Northrend coins. She's also leveled up to 81, mostly through exploration and coin xp.
Before next Saturday she's got to get to level 82 so that she can get the Deepholm coins, but all the other Cata coins are reachable via flying. Hopefully doing the Northrend dungeon coins will help with the xp for leveling.
The other hard part will be getting the Alliance capital cites coins. Khyrie is currently missing Ironforge and Stormwind. The Darnassus coin was amusing to get.
~~~~~~~~
A guard's arrow whizzed through the air where Khyrie had been as she banked sharply left. The quick direction change was lucky but not entirely planned. Khyrie needed to land somewhere to remove the arrow and heal the wound in her left wing/arm. Fortunately the trees and branches of Teldrassil gave her many options that were both large enough for her troll form and far enough away from any guards on the ground.
Once healed, Khyrie shifted back into bat form and headed towards Darnassus. She soared above the road, the wind whispering in her claws. Once to the Darnassus gate she dove sharply and skimmed above the hill to the side of the main entrance. From there she glided swiftly just above the ground through the Craftsman's Terrace and toward the Cenarion Enclave. She was just fast enough as a bat to out race attacks from the Sentinels at the main gate, and yet not high enough to be noticed by the flying city guards.
With quick and almost silent flaps of her wings Khyrie reached the Cenarion Enclave and the elder standing in a moonbeam there. Swiftly she shifted back to troll form and bowed to the elder. In return the elder's ghostly hands passed her a glowing lunar festival coin and a thick red envelope. She tucked both items into her pack. The envelope was intriguing but it would be better to open that later.
A quick shift later and she was back in bat form and ready to make her escape from Darnassus. She started to look around for the closest exit, but, in her haste, flew a little too high. Suddenly a searing pain pierced her wing membranes. A hippogryph had swooped down from the tree limbs above and savaged her wings. Using what height she had Khyrie dove for the nearby lake. As she plunged into it she shifted into manatee form and swam to the bottom of the lake. Fortunately the hippogryph didn't follow her into the water.
At the bottom of the lake Khyrie alternated between holding her breath as a troll so she could heal herself and shifting back to manatee so she didn't drown. Once fully healed she explored the lake bottom a little bit. It wasn't large, but there were several streams feeding and draining it. Khyrie tried to remember the map of Darnassus she had looked at before this expedition. If she remembered correctly, the stream that drained the lake wasn't actually a stream but a waterfall over the edge of Teldrassil.
Khyrie swam towards the waterfall. She washed over the edge and shifted to bat in midair. A little fancy flying and she was safely out of the waterfall and out of Darnassus and on her way back to Darkshore for the next coin.
~~~~~
Alright so the above story isn't *exactly* correct. There was one death and corpse run while I was grabbing the coin. DraNgNon also gets all the credit for remembering that there is a waterfall out of Darnassus. Other than that it was a pretty speedy and painless coin grab. Far less painful than I'm sure either Stormwind or Ironforge will be.

Kael'Thas Take 2
Just before the New Year Tylara and Khyrie went to the Magister's Terrace. It was pretty fun to run through there. And it was a good change for us to practice tanking and healing in an actual instance.
Of course while I was there I had to screen shot Kael's ridiculous dialogue.

Kea'thas Sunstrider yells: Vengeance burns!
Kea'thas Sunstrider yells: Felomin Ashal!
Kea'thas Sunstrider yells: I'll turn your world... upside... down.
Kea'thas Sunstrider yells: Master, grant me strength.
Kea'thas Sunstrider yells: Do not get... too comfortable.
Kea'thas Sunstrider yells: My demise accomplishes nothing! The master will have you! You will drown in your own blood! The world shall burn! Aaagh!
The last line is the most hilarious. Kael is dead but has a ridiculously long line before he actually falls over.

General Update
I've been a bit silent on the blog lately. It's been a combo of Holiday busyness and guild stress. But with the Holidays over and the guild calming down I think I have the mental focus and time to post about WoW without it being a complete rant. I have been having fun in WoW. The new raid and dungeons are fun and I think (hope) I'm doing a good job with the guild. I'm trying to push some of the work onto the other officers, but it's hard with a few of them still out for the Holidays.
This weekend Kuan and Morn went did a bunch of PvP. It was our usual Saturday night arena and hard cider. The arena's were their usual level of fun/pain, but the battlegrounds were especially bad. I swear sometimes the Horde has an awesome ability to pluck defeat from the jaws of victory. But we did eventually stomp an Arathi Basin. The arena's were helped by my checking Arena Junkies and swapping a few talent points and a glyph out for Mornara's pvp spec. Of course now it's even less suited to doing PvE damage, but I massively prefer tanking in PvE anyway.
Darkfall in general is making steady progress with Dragon Soul. We're very close to getting Blackhorn down. We almost had him last night, and I think next time we'll get him for sure. Probably I should take a peek at what I need to know for Spine of Deathwing. I look forward to falling off when he rolls us.
DraNgNon and I have also been doing our best to keep up with alts as well. Eeyan and Viljo are both just barely geared enough to get into LFR. Khyrie and Tylara are 80 and 81 respectively. I think it's time for them to head to Vashj'ir. I'm loving playing cat for the outdoors, and resto for instances. I do need to remember to make an obnoxious macro for her Tree of Life form. I'm thinking something along the lines of "SUPER BROCCOLI to the Rescue!" or "Form of Broccoli!!" or "SUPER BROCCOLI is here to Save the Day!!!1!!!one!!!" I'm really torn on how to make it both informative and annoying.

Attack on Taurajo
I have been leveling Khyrie in Kalimdor. With all the leveling speed buffs and doing an instance every so often I've been doing green quests almost all of the time. However, I really wanted to see as much of the post-Cataclysm quests as I could.
There have been some really good changes to the way that many of the zones were upgraded and streamlined. A fair amount of it sadly feels on rails, but the new quests in general are interesting and entertaining. However, the Southern Barrens really just ripped my heart out.
What used to be the single big rolling plain of the Barrens, is now split in half by a huge and horrible lava filled cleft. The Northern Barrens remain similar to what they used to be: a relatively safe area where the Horde is carving out a place to live in Kalimdor. However the Southern Barrens are drastically changed.
In particular I almost cried when I saw that Taurajo was a burned ruin filled with looters.
There are several quests to go back to Taurajo from the refugee camp to the north. Someone wants you to kill looters, but Winnoa Pineforest wants you to Honor the Dead. You've got to take a Tauren funerary totem and place it by the dead bodies of four Tauren who stayed behind in Taurajo to make sure that others escaped.

Omusa's Spirit says: No, stay with the others. Escort them north, away from the fighting. I will stay here with the wyvern and cover your escape. Go!
Omusa's Spirit says: ...wait, is it over? I've been run through... Ah. Of course. I understand now. I am expected elsewhere.
(Then Omusa's spirit flies off on a spectral wyvern.)

Drahn's Spirit says: I can feel the embrace now of all living things, the Earthmother's eternal peace. Thank you.

Krulmoo's Spirit says: I ran to wake the others up when the attack hit. Were they able to escape? I tried to fight the soldiers off with a skinning knife...

Yonada's Spirit says: Alliance - they've surrounded the camp! What are they doing here? Why are they attacking Taurajo? Get the children - run! RUN!
I was deeply saddened by the destruction of Taurajo and the sacrifice of the Tauren that I eulogized. I'm not ashamed to admit that Khyrie slaughtered as many Looters as she could find.

Bat!
Khyrie reached level 60 a few weeks ago. And shortly after that she went back to Orgrimmar to visit the nice Troll cat druid who explained a few things from the Loas. Most notably there was an explanation of flight form!
The Loas gift the trolls with a bat form! Because it's only regular flying the bat is just a bat, with no fancy armor.
But still! BAT!

Watch out! I'ma bat! I've got rabies and I'll bite you!
But I'm also a druid so I can heal you too!

Garrosh's Horde
Bit of a spoiler for Southern Barrens here.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Basically you've got the old commander who isn't making any progress defending or taking back the territory that the Alliance took during the actual Cataclysm. So the new commander is coming in to get things going.

So what happened here is that Gar'dul asked you to meet him up in a tower, hoping to get rid of you and the new commander before he was "officially" replaced. However this didn't work out for him. Between your character and Bloodhilt, Gar'dul was pretty handily defeated. And Bloodhilt, well, he threw out the old commander, literally, using a window.
Khyrie was a little bit shocked by this. She is a druid and they do try to strive for some sort of balance. Now Gar'dul had tried to kill her and Bloodhilt, so she wasn't too sad to see him go face first into the ground below that tower. But still "Garrosh's Horde" didn't leave that great a taste in her mouth.

Riding Raptor
Khyrie my little troll druid, is not so little anymore. She is, in fact, big enough to buy a mount. This is not as big as it used to be, but it is still an important milestone. So off to Sen'Jin village she went.
Once there I had a hard time deciding which raptor to buy. Turquoise? Emerald? Violet? The Violet would match her hair, but the other two raptors were pretty spiffy looking too.
In the end I went with all three raptors. Unlike Vanillla when you had to wait until level 40 and shell out 100 gold for the privilege of 60% speed mounts now each raptor was only 1g before any reputation discounts.

I've put all three of them in my mount macro so I'll get a random mount whenever I mount up.

I'm really enjoying playing Khyrie. She's gone down the feral tree and it's a pretty good way to level. Between stealth and being about to pop back to caster form for self-heals when I need it's pretty OP. So far I've been sticking with cat. Perhaps soon I will be brave and take her into an instance as a cat or bear.
I do feel a little bad for the mobs I kill. Here they were quietly going about their business, when suddenly a huge fucking tiger appears from the shadows behind them and shreds them to ribbons.
Speaking as the tiger in question, it's tons of fun.

Troll Druid
I rolled a troll druid. Her name is Khyrie. I did this pretty much as soon as it was allowed, but I've been a bit distracted and haven't played her much since. So poor little Khyrie is only level 12.

However it turned out that giving her red hair was a mistake. Red hair leads to the grey cat with a red mane, which is ok. However it also leads to the green bear with a red mane, aka the Christmas bear. Source: Tree Bark Jacket, a very excellent druid blog.
So Khyrie has already been to the hairdresser:

I went with the pink hair for the least garish bear and cat combo. And if you're gonna go pink, the anime haircut is definitely the best one to get. :D

old faces reappear
Rahlenti started playing again! Even better, he app'd to Darkfall and has yesterday joined the guild! yay!
Clara agreed with me on the Alliance lameness. However that is no good as Khyrie is her only druid. So yesterday she re-rolled Naranon and started him leveling up.

how depressing
Here I was, thinking about how great it was that I was able to play Wow this last weekend, and without dedicating oodles of time I got Vhaas up to 62, some gear upgrades, a nice LW piece for Khyrie; took Eeyan through 2 heroics on PUGs, picking up 10 badges, and pulled him through Shadow Lab as well, then got him the badged neck as a nice upgrade; Kuan went into the BGs and got enough honor to pick up a PvP neck, which boosted his crit considerably, and in the interim went on a raid to pull down a boss he hadn't seen down'd before.
How great is all that. Then I compare it to list of things to get done and it's all no, no, no, no...

Alliance Elves
On Friday night Vhaas and Khyrie continued their adventures in Outland. The humans and dwarves in honor hold are too depressing to deal with, so aside from a quest here and there with really nice rewards we are skipping them.
However the draenei at the Temple of Telhamat are much nicer. And they give elephant rep, I mean Exodar rep, for Vhaas. So we wandered around doing their quests until we hit level 62. Ravagers, flayers, and anything else in our way was slaughtered as we quested.
I will note that our night elves are pretty severely undergeared. Blacktalon the Savage was hard to kill when the two of them were level 61.
Anyway, after leveling and turning in quests Vhaas and Khyrie went back to Darnassus to train. And from there the two of them went to Silithus to do some of the last few quests they had there.
All in all it was a relatively relaxing evening of questing.

Elephant here I come
I was busy with RL things yesterday and got stuck. So I decided while I waited on getting un-stuck I'd get Vhaas her coins. As a result Khyrie and Vhaas ran around Azeroth for quite a while, gathering coins for the lunar festival.
While we were at it, whenever we were in areas where the mobs were still green, we went on a killfest. The xp wasn't really good for lvl 61 player characters, but it was fantastic for the level 50-some pets. Now Dorano is 60, and Belore 57 I think. And Vhaas' Exodar rep is 7800+ Revered!
Today we logged them in to finish the coins, and woe, the Lunar Festival is done! But with Dorano 60, we paid a visit to Hellfire Penninsula. Did a couple HH quests, and ran to the next flight point. Which is all Exodar quests, woot!
Meanwhile I discovered my hunter macros no longer work quite like they did when I wrote them. Good thing I found that picking up coins, and not in some lvl 60 instance when I would be the idiot by pulling early.
Today I am almost done with the RL things. So now I turn back to Kuan, who need just 4 badges to upgrade his boots, which would be nice before another try at Void Reaver tonight.

Greymane ho!
So our Alliance toons really are neglected. Part of the problem is we have found Honor Hold offputting. Part of the problem is the AD guild, after trying to be a raid guild, fell apart. More of the problem is that AD Alliance seems to be dramarific. The bulk of the reason is that they are not as interesting as our Horde toons.
But they are in the 60s and it's tragic they are shelved. So, we have been talking to coworkers who are transferring their guild to Greymane, and they sent a mail: they want Alliance toons to augment its membership. I talked to the person making the announcement, and we are welcome to join even though they are raiding Kara and we are only playing the Alliance toons casually.
Darkfall is raiding until Wednesday, so we expect Thursday to transfer Vhaas, Khyrie, and Trismestigus to Greymane, after cleaning up banker alts and belongings etc.

Alliance...
We got home from work too late last night to do anything that required full mental engagement with the game. So, we logged in Vhaas and Khyrie, and got them almost all the way to Friendly with Timbermaw Hold; there's a mindless comfort to slaughtering furblogs. We then turned in a quest at LHC and parked them there.
