Off to the Races

Kuanchichi went into heroic Mana Tombs, but they didn't have room for Viljo, so Viljo wandered around and did some daily quests.

He was just about to start bombing the demon cannon balls when a guildie needed one last dps for regular Steam Vaults. Our tank was a level 69 warrior who, fortunately, really knew his stuff. So we cruised through there killing everything in sight: xp for the warrior and rep for the healer.

Just at the end of that the tank and one dps in Kuan's Mana Tombs run dropped out, because, well, they were getting frustrated with the sucking. Fortunately they were the ones causing the sucking so Viljo and a really great tank friend was pulled in and the rest of the instance, including the daily heroic quest, was tromped.

Then they wanted to do the daily quest in regular Steam Vaults. Viljo bowed out because there was a 6th and he had already done it.

Instead he went to Netherwing plateau. I'd been looking at the Skybreaker race quests. Viljo is a pretty good flyer. He only very rarely gets knocked off his wyvern by the monstrous kaliri. The fel cannons have only hit him a couple of times.

So Viljo challenged Murg "Oldie" Muckjaw. Murg took a short and slow path. His pumpkins were relatively easy to dodge once I realized they would knock you off your mount. Trope was just as easy to beat. Viljo was quite happy to dodge whatever noxious substance Trope was producing. (He didn't stop to find out what it was.)

Corlok the Vet was a little harder for Viljo. Mostly it was annoying because Viljo had a hard time not outpacing him while still dodging the *explosive* skulls he was flinging around.

After that Viljo was up against Wing Commander Ichman. Viljo would have been all to happy to run him into the ground. However, it was not to be. Ichman knocked Viljo out of the sky until Viljo died. :( And then it was time for Viljo to go into heroic Botanica. Heroic Botanica went quite well, with a net of 5 badges.

I think that's where Chay is also stuck, but I haven't cared since I hit exalted already.

I have heard (though haven't really tried) that it's easier to not outpace if you don't have your riding crop on. But, the slack for catching up is nice too, so ... *shrug*

Congrats on all your good runs. :)

Protip: Viljo should do the racing quests naked.

Ichman and whatever-the-last-guy's-name-is are all about memorizing specific parts of the route... or all of it. If you're really intent on beating it, check out a couple YouTube videos or something so you can learn the route before trying it again.

And riding crop is actually a really good thing. The last race is near-impossible to do without it because the drake moves so damn fast.

I guess I forgot to mention that the reason you memorize the route is so that you can stay either ahead or to the side of them (so those damned cheating heat-seeking lightning bolts can't reach you).

Also beware of the occasional circle-around thingie he does (he basically goes around in circles for awhile while shooting more lightning-missiles at you). Stay ahead but always be swiveling your camera around to make sure you haven't lost him.

I did actually try one of the races without my riding crop equipped. However I found that only made it harder to slalom back and forth across their path trying to avoid getting knocked off. :(

Viljo naked!?!?! oh noes! Last time he took his robe off (to prove to the heroic MT group that he could indeed /moon because he did have pants on under his robe) he was told to "Put it back on!!! >.<"
